Great book. It’s been a while since I read this, but maybe a little red car? The kid thought when he saw red cars in a row, that was a sign of good luck. And he had a pet rat, I think. So maybe a stuffed rat toy?
I’m gonna kind of steal bookish’s answer (sorry!), but instead of a red toy car, you could do an air freshener with one side as a red car and one side as a yellow car (yellow cars are bad, if I remember correctly).
Why not a poodle pin? (obviously, I love the poodle connection!)
